Job Details:

Reports to Principal Investigator and is responsible for assisting with the design, implementation, and evaluation of various research projects.


Assist in preparing and writing grant applications

Conduct experiments and analyze data

Prepare manuscripts for publication

Present research at scientific meetings


PhD or MD is required

Excellent and meticulous organizational and technical skills are of the utmost importance as are documentation skills, and interpersonal and communication skills

Able to work independently, under supervision, and as a part of a team

Able to attend trainings in Biosafety and to rigorously adhere to biosafety standards and sterile techniques

Experience with cell culture, DNA/RNA purification, RT-PCT, qPCR, cell transfection, Western blotting, flow cytometry, ELISA, siRNA/shRNA, CRISPR, etc.

Experience with animal husbandry, breeding, and animal model use

Experience with common vascular biology and/or developmental biology research techniques

Familiar with standard computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint; experience with computer programs used for DNA and RNA analysis, biomedical informatics, and image analysis

Able to maintain collaborative, team relationships with colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the achievement of goals, and to help foster a positive work environment

Additional Requirements:

Requires handling of potentially infectious material under appropriate biosafety precautions

Occasionally may require the handling of noxious chemicals under appropriate biosafety precautions

Will interact directly with the PI and other institute personnel in learning new techniques, analyzing and interpreting data, and designing experiment protocols

Attend weekly laboratory meetings and relevant seminars

Flexibility is a requirement; days and hours may vary depending upon experiments, submission deadlines, and conferences
