Tufts Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) (www.tuftsctsi.org/), one of over 50 organizations supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA), was established in 2008 to transform the biomedical research process through education, promoting collaboration, and the provision of research infrastructure and support services. Tufts CTSI accelerates the translation of laboratory research into clinical use, medical practice, and health policy. In addition to its work with Tufts University, Tufts Medical Center, and other partner organizations, Tufts CTSI contributes to the national CTSA Consortium.
The summer intern will provide research and administrative support to the Stakeholder and Community Engagement (SCE) in Basic Science systematic review project at the Tufts CTSI. The intern will perform a wide variety of day to day administrative and research tasks including entering and managing data, retrieving articles, keeping both electronic and hard copy files, photo-copying, faxing, mailing, preparing presentation materials and assisting in submission of manuscripts to peer review journals.
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Project Manager, this position performs routine administrative support functions and special projects for CTSI faculty and staff. An ideal candidate will have completed a Bachelor degree in biomedical science ranging from basic science to health pol icy/public health, and currently pursuing Master’s degree in related field preferred. Senior undergraduate with understanding of research will also be considered. This position will be 40 hours a week beginning June 1, 2019 and ending August 31, 2019.
The intern will participate in abstracts and article screening, data extraction of eligible articles, data cleaning, data management, and maintaining electronic and copy files.
Responsible for providing administrative and research support for SCE in Basic Science systematic review at the Tufts CTSI. Duties include attending weekly meetings, e-mailing, preparing presentation materials as needed, and completing all other necessary administrative tasks.
Contributions to a publication with be acknowledged and co-authorship is possible depending on level of contribution.
Level of knowledge generally obtained through completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.
No experience necessary but preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above, may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
Familiar with email and Microsoft Office programs.
Good interpersonal skills.
